a metaphor as a metaphor
an attempt at a sonnet I wrote for english class
Once upon a family of notebook lines
A metaphor napped among language kin
In beds of scribbled exclamation signs
Cacophony full of words teaching him sin
When he came of age he realized time flies
He cut ties with what he used to signify
He packed the bags beneath his tired eyes
With commas that kept him up all night
As pages passed, he hit calamity
False friends said he took things too literal
They said run-ons run in the family
his lack of meaning then more visceral
So, he longed to be metaphor once more
But kinder, softer than it was before
